Live Soundscapes
|
The concept for my live soundscapes began as content for a weekly program of original ambient music, which was broadcast every Saturday on Serenity Radio. The show ran continuously from the inception of the station until it's close, the only show to run continuously for its entire duration.
Each show contained an hour of ambient music, recorded live from my studio, where I created sonic landscapes using a combination of loops, software instruments and effects, sequenced in Ableton Live. The music is melodic, relaxing and emotive, and could best be described as instrumental synthwave chillout. It's great music for studying to, or to use for working. I have now curated and organised the best of the soundscape content from the show into 3 volumes, which you can listen to on Spotify here. |
The sessions are all completely original and improvised. They consist of a series of 8 or 9 tracks, each containing a separate instrument. As one new instrument is added, an older one is removed. This creates an endlessly evolving soundscape which gradually transitions through different sonic landscapes over the duration of the session.
The aim is to take listeners on a journey through sound, playing with different moods and emotions, and evoking vivid mental images through the use of different sounds and instruments.
This is great music for meditation, studying, working or gaming. Or alternatively you can simply sit back, with a good set of speakers or headphones, and allow the soundscapes to flow past you, transporting you out into another world.
